In fact, I finished the game and still wondering what was the purpose of this specific statue. Maybe it was just for background purpose : a strange cult in the sewers, proof of the dark influence of Mangar's presence.

Besides that, I don't think it was a typo. You can encounter spiders also, and ...

Hi,

My only advice : try the Steem emulator.
I've just finished the game with this emulator, and never had a single crash.

And I don't know if SaintST have this option, but the speed-up option of Steem is very usefull (especially for long combat, like the 4x99 berserkers ;))

Hi,

I have just finished the Atari ST version of BT I (more than 20 years after my first play, on my old C64).

And I'm about to try 'Destiny Knight' on the Amiga version.
Is the PC version better ?

Just cast a Scry Site spell (SCSI). It will show you where you are in the dungeon.
