Re: Nonsense messages in the game?

How do you mean? You can find him (Dargoth) with a friend at 20N, 0E on level 5 of his tower. I looked all over for Dargoth playing the C64 version 25+ years ago and never did find him. I came to assume that he wasn't in it. Looking at the tower map. that location is out of the way, and obviously b...

Re: Nonsense messages in the game?

1 - Doesn't the answer affect who you fight? Agree in that it otherwise doesn't seem significant. 5 - Only other thing I can think of is that there should be a comma as in seek six, lies to the I noticed that the others are not mentioned in the hint book. Reading this and thinking about it, I'm gues...

Re: Versions compared

Yeah, I ended up seeing your post on that a few minutes after I posted here.

Thanks.

Re: Versions compared

I played the C64 version as a kid. Playing the Kindle now, which I guess is the Apple IIgs. It's funny, the IIgs graphics look better, obviously, and I generally like them better for the monsters. But I like the C64 dungeon designs much better. I also liked how there was a different color for for th...

Re: Amusing story to a glitch in the Kindle version

Heh. I guess that's one way to look at it. I had what appeared to be another glitch, but sadly no happy ending: I found what appeared to be the Stasis Chamber in Kylearan's Tower (BTW, what is hell is a "good" wizard doing with one of those?). Not sure if it permanently traps you, or just ...

Amusing story to a glitch in the Kindle version

So I'm playing while waiting on my wife's car to be worked on. In the Sewers, Level 3, and have played for about an hour since the last save. Spell points are a bit low, so it's time to dredge my way back. Also got a few goodies and some EP's, so saving is a good idea also. Go back to the portal on ...

Re: Buffer spells/songs

What I was starting to figure. Noticed that a lot of those spells weren't in BT2 or BT3. I suppose these spells way be useful to help a fighter against a single creature with strong direct magic resistance, though I don't recall how many creatures fit that bill. Oh well, was looking to try something...

Re: Buffer spells/songs

Whatever you feel like typing :D Or at least, which ones appear to be are useful, particularly later in the game. Early on, it looks obvious that one is better off spending the spell points on a group damage spell (Starflare, Warstrike) instead of a buffer spell, even if there are only 1-2 foes in s...

Re: Buffer spells/songs

Ok, thanks.
Doesn't seem worth much, at least at this point in the game. Maybe it is in Mangar's tower, if the damage is based off location, and the Paladin/Monks are getting 8 attacks a turn?

Any breakdowns on some other spells?

Re: Buffer spells/songs

Thanks, but, at least in this particular case, exactly how much? In my testing with the Paladin, it appeared to decrease damage dealt. Which really doesn't make sense. Historically, I always played The Traveller's Tune, partly because I could see what it did the AC. I can't tell exactly how much som...

Buffer spells/songs

Does anyone here who's looked into how the game is coded know exactly how some of these work? Some are obviously described in the manual - Vorpal Plating adds the 2-8 points of damage (though, come to think of it, is it applied just once per turn, or for each attack?). One can see how much The Trave...

Re: All those puzzles

Yeah, I did the graph-paper maps in Bard's Tale 3 and other games. I actually found the game on the Kindle, and I'm debating whether to map it (doesn't seem as natural to map on a Kindle as compared to the C64) I was in 6th grade when I first heard of the series; a friend of mine introduced me to it...

All those puzzles

When this came out in the mid 1980's, is there anyone here who honestly didn't need a hint book or hotline to solve all those puzzles?

Be honest.

I can see solving the puzzles in BT1 and BT3 without aid, but not BT2. Especially considering there was no autosave function, slow load times, etc.

Re: Inxile announce BT IV is their next project

Wow! Hadn't been here for a while. Great to see! Anyone know how the copyright issues were resolved? I thought that was the main reason as to why there hadn't been a BT 4 for all this time. Not really a PC gamer, so I hope it comes out on console (even though I don't have a new one yet). Also wonder...

Re: Challenge Achievements

I'm just focusing on BT1 right now.
I'll do one for the others is this generates some buzz; I have a few ideas for BT2, not so much so BT3.
