thanks, for some reason I thought it would be possible to become an Archmage with only knowing 3 of the 4 other spellclasses. In that case I think I will go Co -> So -> Wz -> Ma Ma -> So -> Wz -> Co with my casters and and 'grind' some levels to get more SP before I'll eventually turn them into Arc...

Are you using the proper coordinates? APAR uses relative coordinates, not absolute coordinates. going to 1n 1e -2 would put you one squre north and 1 square east and 2 levels down from where you are. While I forget the exact coordinates involved, if I assume you are trying to go from the 396 Berserk...

Well I for one thought this idea would have caught on with at least a few people... I only check these forums maybe once a week, and that's only when I'm actively playing one of the games. They're just too slow to be worth checking more often than that. I think it would be a good idea to get a list...

ZX Spectrum version back in the day, and the DOS versions from Ultimate RPG archives more recently. Commodore 64 for all three games, back in the day. More recently, I fired up several emulators to relive the glory. The best version of BT1 is, IMHO, the Apple IIgs. However, the IIgs never got BT3, ...

I'm more annoyed that I have to work long hours all weekend. I'll be excited when I finally get a day off next Wednesday.Darendor wrote:So the Avengers movie comes out this weekend.

Re: Original Might & Magic
gog.com has the entire Might and Magic series available. 1-6 are in one giant anthology for $9.99, I believe.Toddhitch wrote:Anyone know of a place to find info or playable versions of the original M&M game 1-3 is what I would be interested in.
Thanks.

Has anybody done a serious study of how the game generates your characters? I ask because it appears to vary enormously between versions. Yes. Check This thread for specifics on MSDOS. For the attributes, there is a base value for each race. Then they throw two 7-sided dice, pick the higher of the ...

Character generation
Has anybody done a serious study of how the game generates your characters? I ask because it appears to vary enormously between versions. On the C-64 and Apple IIgs, the game appears to use a roughly similar approach - 1d8 + bonus for each stat, the bonus set by your race choice. If the result is ab...

In fact, I made a dumb mistake. I was using the disk images hosted here at the Adventurer's Guild, and tried to get accustomed to the hacked character disk, so I started looking for a replacement. When I found the arnold images, I just grabbed the character disk (well, city disk according to the fil...

It almost feels like giving up, but I'm playing the Apple IIgs version of BT1 and BT2. I'll have to start a new party for BT3, but that just means I'll get to level my rogue up with the rest of my party, since I can't see dragging a dead weight rogue through the first two games. I have to think that...

I don't think there's a way to save individual characters (and thus dupe items) in the iPad version. You don't have a character disk to swap (I don't think, anyway) and you automatically save the full party at once. I think you're out of luck on this one. I'm wondering if the iPad version is just su...

And for Dungeon Master fans, the Legend of Grimrock continues to make steady progress and seems to have an Ultima-style runic magic system: http://www.grimrock.net/ Legend of Grimrock is out now, and is quite good. It's not much like the Bard's Tale series - definitely more of a Dungeon Master/Eye ...

Starting a full play through
Well, the bug bit me and now I feel the urge to play through the entire series of Bard's Tale games - well, the three in the trilogy, anyway. I played on a Commodore 64 back in the day, but that machine is now defunct. So the question is, what version to play? Since I'm emulating no matter what, it'...
