The backup files in the DOS version are numbered, with a .tpw extension. You could do a file search for 1.tpw, 2.tpw, etc and see if they show up. The backup files are refreshed when you remove the character from the party, or when you leave the game from the menu at the adventurer's guild. If you e...

I can think of only two advantages that Paladins have over Hunters. They can use a little bit better equipment, and they have a saving throw bonus. Hunters, on the other hand, after their critical hit maxes out at level 17 or so, will guarantee a kill on every hit. It isn't hard to get to LO armor c...

Thanks, Drifting. That's quite a bit of complexity and some stuff I wouldn't have guessed. Most of what I've seen is consistent with that, but there is one thing that might be off, and I have a couple more questions. So it looks like in the case of the Cellar, dungeon difficulty 0, I should get Pois...

How to Traps work?
Normally, I pretty much ignore traps. I TRZP them if I have to. But I ran a campaign with no magic users, and I had to deal with them some more. Now I'm curious. Let me post what I think and see what you guys can add to my findings. I built a party to do some tests, and here's what I found out so fa...

Yes, I was mistaken about the teleport bundle on level 3 of Harkyn's Castle. I think I was thinking of the spinner field guarding Tarjan's statue. Yeah, that one could have been harder, except all I had to do was hug the wall and I was OK. The really bad one was on level 3 of Mangar's Tower. Those ...

I'm having a hard time believing it took you less than 12 hours to escape the teleportation trap at the very middle north of level 2 of Harkyn's Castle without using SCSI and MACO. Well, like I said, I have really good maps. That and the fact that there's no spinner there. If there had been a spinn...

Well, it can be done with three non-magic users, but there were some unexpected hurdles. I did it with a Monk, a Hunter, and a Bard. Darendor, you were right about the beginning party being hard. I had seven characters that didn't make level two before I finally got a couple to the point where they ...

So, it can definitely be done with 3 characters -- one Bard and two Archmage Wizards. Well, that and the extra character used to haul the party to the Temple after total party wipeouts. It really isn't very hard at all if I am willing to grind the characters up high enough to run from all encounters...

The door with the three shapes is passed so long as the silver items are being carried in the party (i.e. Silvr Square, Silvr Circle, and Silvr Triang). It doesn't have to be specific party members/classes so long as all 3 items are present. Same thing with the Crystal Sword; it just needs to be pr...

Minimum Party required to actually win
So we need at least three characters to pass the door with the three shapes.
We need one of the characters to be a Warrior, Paladin, Bard, or Hunter, to wield the Crystal Sword.
Any other hard limitations?

I would be willing to attempt to transfer your characters into the Android app. Unfortunately, I don't have an Android system. It might be possible to just modify the files. Are the characters in the Android system kept in a file or files? Could you build a low level party, play a few minutes, and t...

Thanks, Drifting, for finding that answer for me. It isn't what I would have guessed, but I can see that it's pretty accurate. Knowing that changes somewhat how I play the game early levels. Nighttime with a low level party is much more dangerous, but it doesn't take many successful battles to earn ...

I don't know the exact specifics on how the bard songs scale, but I do know there is something. I know that Drifting is right--playing the Travelers Tune in the Catacombs gives -2 Armor Class Bonus. This stacks. Playing it twice gives -4. I also know that at some point in the castle or tower, it sta...
