Thanks dragonbait for hosting that.
I only wish I had the time, and talent, to keep the modification in line with the C64 resolution and palette.
Hoping to see more entries... :D

Yep, can anyone host it for me please. I tried hosting it a the C64 wiki site, but they seemed to have deleted it. They are obviously wisely above toilet humour.

short and sweet fact about the mage staff and conjur staff

Ok, I'll just stick to the facts in this thread so that I don't get confused: Fact: The mage staff slowly increases your spellcaster's spellpoints, but it has to be equipped to do this. Fact: The conjurstaff halves the cost of casting spells. It does this without needing to be equipped - it only nee...

That's a great link Zerozero. I can think of nothing worse than battling all the way to the top of Mangar's tower only to find he's not there! Silverbird, I hope the CCS64 emulator is working better for you now. CCS64 is the most processor intensive, so if your PC is suffering, then I can recommend ...

Huh. The things you learn around here. So it must be every 3 levels then? Wowzers, I didn't realize you topped out at lvl 22 for attacks. I'm not certain but the damage inflicted might be related to level, and definitely strength, so your char will continue to hit harder up to strength 18, and then ...

I'm sorry chaps, I just haven't managed to pin this one down to a logical explanation. The experiments that I have done have given inconsistent results, and so I am non the wiser as to what the cause is of this weird sppt incrementing of ny three high level wizards. The bottom line is this: * The un...

Hello Flanimal, I will google as you say and see what I come up with but I think the last time I tried the latest version my old pc could not recognize the new files?. Will let you know how I get on either way. Regards Silverbird. Ah, it is probably not worth the bother trying to get the latest ver...

Yes, but I wasn't expecting this at all. There are still tests I can do, such as going to the guild, deleting all characters, create a new spellfcaster, and see if the state still persists in the dungeons. I do apologise for my initial inaccurate conclusions with the three staffs. Now it seems that ...

I just discovered that my initial information is not entirely accurate, and that, something freaky has happened - and is continuing to happen. Let me take you back to the beginning. I have 3 wizards (archmages) in my party. Only one of them had the mage staff, and his spellpoints alone incremented o...

Hello silverbird, Device 1 is the tape recorder, so if you are using the disk version you don't need to concern yourself with device 1. It would seem that the older version of CCS64 that you are running has different options under the F9 key. I would recommend downloading and running the latest CCS6...

I'm currently playing the C64 tape version of BT1 on CCS64, so I have fresh knowledge of it. From the blue C64 screen you need to insert the tape/disk. This is done by F9. For tape move the cursor to Device 1, press return, find the tape file and press F2. For disk, move the cursor to Device 8, pres...

Apologies for the double post, but I'm still developing my ridiculously high level party and am starting to experience some strange results which are probably related to the levels being higher than the programmers anticipated. Once spellcasters go above level 160 or so, their Mind Jab and MindFist ...

That's interesting. I wonder if the effect of the unequipped staff is a bug or actualy intended. I wonder too. I suspect it might be a feature rather than a bug, as some objects 'work' without needing to equip them - keys for example. The quality of BT code is so high that I think a feature the mor...

long winded explanation of a very weird spell point increase

I have been experimenting with the conjuror, sorcer and mage staffs, and have found some fascinating characteristics beyond those that are documented: All three of these staffs increase the character's spell points at a rate of +1, without needing to be equipped items. The Conjurer staff has AC0 but...
