Re: Buffer spells/songs

Falkens Fury adds to the melee damage. The amount is based on the level of the dungeon you are in. If the song is played outside of battle and you then enter battle with the song still playing you still get the damage bonus. The damage bonus is cumulative. Each time you sing the song in battle adds ...

Re: Item & Monster Specs

Is that still on the Amiga version? Odd how it's only certain weapons. It's almost certainly a bug. Considering Mangar has 15+1d256 HP, doing 80ish damage at level 4 is just wrong.

Could you do a test with a level 1 paladin? I'll look into getting winuae running to get it disassembled.

Re: Item & Monster Specs

i'm playing amiga, but as i recall, when playing it 25 years ago on my C64, this damage output was normal. I did some testing with different weapons and, here is what i got, paladin with seven attacks: pureblade: 111,138,145,105,122,172,131,162,140,92 hawkblade: 116,84,129,95,93,91,101,86 dmnd swor...

WarrioirOfIce wrote:how is damage calculated exactly ?
for example my paladin with a dmnd sword (listed as 2d4+3) does 7 attacks for damage ranging between 375-399.

How the heck 2d4+3 times 7 range into 375-399?
What version are you playing? A quick test of the DOS version of BT1 gets around 82 damage with 8 attacks.

Re: BT 3 MSDOS version

Thank you very much. I took a first look into the files and found some interesting things: Familiar Figurine has Spell Points Regeneration! (bt3) Can anyone try if this stacks with Mage Staff? It does stack with the Mage Staff. Both have to be equipped. Another interesting thing: While Conjurstaff ...

BT1 and BT2 have monsters.json, spells.json, songs.json and items.json
BT3 does not have songs.json. Haven't gotten to those yet.

Re: BT 3 MSDOS version

Just committed a new version. It fixes a bug in the camp's "Remove Member" code that wouldn't actually save the removed character to disk

Re: BT 3 MSDOS version

I have noticed two things which looks like bugs: 1. Levitation spells don't seem to protect against traps. Or does it only work on some traps? 2. Some monsters cast Far Foe, but it has no effect on the party. 1. Levitation spells only work 75% of the time against traps. 2. There is a saving throw c...

Re: BT 3 MSDOS version

The hangs you are experiencing are due to a pretty major flaw in the game. I tested with the original version and your THIEVES.INF hangs that one as well. The bug is that the maximum number of characters allowed in a THIEVES.INF file is 75 but most of the functions don't have a bounds check and happ...

Re: BT 3 MSDOS version

Problem: game keeps crashing (or freezing to be more precise) if I try to add members to my party at the Refuge Camp. My party has just started exploring the Catacombs when my Rogue was killed. I was gonna replace him with another character until I could resurrect my rogue, but that does not seem p...

Re: BT 3 MSDOS version

I'm guessing that since drifting linked directly to the .exe rather than the folder itself, that you would just need to put the .exe file in the bards tale III folder and type thiefp to start. It seems to boot up OK doing that. notice thiefp in the dosbox header. That's correct. thiefp.exe is all t...

PAVLISH Easter Egg

I found an Easter Egg in the DOS version. In the Wasteland when asked

Code: Select all

You see a ghostly death's-head floating above this spot and hear a voice ask, "Who am I?"
If you answer with PAVLISH you get the response:

Code: Select all

Get back to work Alan

To add one more to caars' list for BT3. The WAWA spell is a Phase Door spell
that lasts until the party leaves the level.

Re: Bt Builder

If someone has free time and wants to help, I'd love to have a list of spells from BT 1, 2, & 3 that can't currently be implemented in bt builder. When I get a chance I'll do it myself but figured I'd ask if anyone wants to help. BT1: Does btbuilder do the detect spells? LOTR, SESI, SOSI, AREN....
