Wow. Amazing work. It's possibly a bit sad to admit this, but I've been looking forward to this day for, y'know, decades. Bravo.

Hey, wow. That's pretty awesome. I'd love to play a bug-free DOS version of BT3! A couple of others that I recall from the distant past: - The random encounter rate seems insanely high compared to the C64 version. - Several items don't work - the Horn of Gods (which does nothing) springs to mind, al...

Hey, that's interesting indeed. There's quite the history behind the name Skara Brae itself, too:

Pretty sure the stone elemental cheat only works in the DOS version, though

Do you mean textures like the ones like in the picture? (Sorry it's so tiny, but it's the only one I could find.) If so, then yes, those textures are used in Mangar's Tower in the DOS version of BT1, and in the Destiny Stone in the DOS version of BT2. No idea about the Amiga version, though. http://...

The mystery is solved! (Sort of.) :)

But seriously, thanks for the tips. I'll def try the Conjurstaff/Mage Staff combo next time I go through BT1.

The DOS version is pretty terrible, sadly, for all the reasons you list and more that become clear as the game progresses - dragons don't breathe, certain items don't work... The C64 is a far better experience if you can find it in yourself to grind your way past the Brilhasti dungeon. (Or just chea...

This definitely sounds like some weirdness in your game. My guess would be that it's because of your high level characters, although that's only a guess... Weren't you experiencing some other strange effects because of their ultra-high levels though?

That's really interesting. For years I had no idea what the Conjurstaff and Sorcerstaff did, and just sold them at Garth's while praying for the next drop to be a Mage Staff. I wonder if this only works on C64?

It's kind of a moot point by then anyway - in BT1, the damage you inflict with eight attacks will kill pretty much anything, whereas in BT2 and BT3 it won't kill anything, and your warriors are pretty much meat shields for your mages.

And yeah, it also makes a bard an immensely powerful character, since he can just keep cranking up your AC until you can hit monsters you'd never normally be able to hit (while also reducing their chance of hitting you). Who knew?!
