Re: BT 3 MSDOS version
Second, there are several barkeep clues that don't ever appear to be given out (I have never been able to get them from any barkeep in any dimension), although they are in the code: "There lies another bar in Celaria Bree, seek it. It exists only in the dimension called Lucencia." "G...

Re: Trying to understand the mechanics of combat in BT
Wow - those threads were gold! Still have a couple of questions, though: 1) Does strength provide a bonus to "to-hit" or to damage? I thought I read somewhere about Str-17 being added to damage. Strength just provides a bonus to "to-hit". Could you re-check this one? In my exper...

Re: Trying to understand the mechanics of combat in BT
I'm currently developing a game that takes some inspiration from BT. It'll look and feel quite different, but the underlying mechanics will share a lot from BT and the list of monsters/items from BT is heavily influencing mine. To that end, I'm trying to understand the mechanics of combat in term's...

Re: New player and some questions!
It is my belief that BT1 (C64 version) does permit keep track of AC past -10. You see, I used to not care about armour once my party were all LO, but I found that I was not able to run from some fights and that my characters never got the first hit in combat. Years later, I took AC into considerati...

Re: New player and some questions!
1.) AC below LO - what is the definitive answer on levels below this. I have read from people who have examined the code that ac below LO is not possible yet also people saying the game does indeed. tracks below -10...., obviously if never below -10 then can leave more equipment slots open. The gam...

Re: Bt Builder
<level>9</bonus> This doesn't look right. Awesome! *THANK YOU* - That did it. It's appearing now in the list of songs. Perfect example of me reading the correct thing in instead of actually *seeing* the mistake. Thanks for the fresh brain and extra pair of eyes... Imo it's really, really difficult ...

Re: BT 3 MSDOS version
The manual says that only one song can be played at a time and that combat songs only last one round. Hmm, you're right. That's odd, since the C64 version definitely doesn't behave that way. Nor do Bard's Tale I or II for DOS. I wonder if the manual in this case was based on the DOS port behavior? ...

Re: BT 3 MSDOS version
However, it's definitely true that combat bard songs only last 1 round, and don't stack. The good news is that I've been playing with drifting's patch sources, and I think I've figured out how to modify it so that bard songs last the entire combat. (Multiple playings of the same song aren't cumulat...

Re: BT3 mysteries
Good day fellow adventurers! 4. Items. Now I have many questions. 4.2 What extra effect 13 has over effect 2? Both regenerates sp, but some items (dmnd staff, oscon's staff, familiar fgn) have effect 13 on them, rather the "default" effect 2 for sp regen. 13 is another spell point regen i...

Re: CBM64 Bard's Tale 1 Disassembly
can someone answer the following question after disassembling the code? resistence and classes: do all classes have the same resistance (chance to avoid spell damage) if they have the same luck-value, level and the same items equipped? is there a class-bonus to resistance or do some classes get mor...
