Nice feature on The Verge

A rather fond look at BT1. The comments are good, too.

So you beat Tarjan? Congratulations! The DOS version is pretty buggy, and it sounds like the version you were playing was even worse. I would definitely recommend the C64 version - it's way better :)

Huh, yeah, I'd prob chuck in some cash if the Kickstarter looked good.

I'm more interested as to why the woman in the video needed such a big sword when she was equipped with dual chest-mounted torpedoes, though

Ah, OK, yes, I think I understand. 1) It's been a long time since I finished BT3, but I don't remember ever really needing to grind out levels. There's so much combat anyway that I think by the time you get to Tarjan you should have a strong enough party to defeat him. 2) No idea on this, I'm afraid...

1) You're looking for a place to grind out experience, yes? If so, no, there's nothing like the 396 berzerkers in BT1. However, once you beat Brilhasti Ap Tarj you'll get a massive experience bonus, so your aim should be to do that as quickly as possible. 2) That sounds like a bug. Which version are...

That Fire Horn is a godsend. It seems silly not to use it.

Level 2 of the Sewers is tiresome, yeah, and I rarely loiter for long on the bottom two levels of the Catacombs. I like the Castle, and also, curiously, the top two levels of Mangar's Tower (especially the deathtrap that's the top level, with all its wacky one-off monsters etc.)

You mean the riddle for Segment #4? No, you're right, it's a strange riddle. It took me a while to work out when I was young, and I'm a native English speaker.

Hi Mayuyu, You can do this without the Nospen Ring, although the ring makes it easier. The spinner turns you in a random direction each time, so it will eventually turn you in the right direction. You just need to keep track of where you are, which you can do by looking at where you are in relation ...

Yeah, I know - I just thought the files' locations in the iPad bundle might give some sort of indication as to where they might be hiding in the desktop version (iOS is ultimately based on OS X, after all.) But no good, I'm afraid. I enjoy playing on the iPad. It's not a super smooth multitouch expe...

Huh, wow, I never thought of doing that. It'd be hard to keep 'em alive at the start of the game, but yeah, once they could Hide in Shadows pretty much every round, no-one'd ever lay a glove on you.

Huh, yeah, I just had a poke around in the iPad bundle and can't find anything to do with the classic games either. They're presumably in there somewhere, though - anyone else have any light to shed on this?

ZeroZero, just for reference, the iPad version is basically the PC version as far as I can see.
