Those are some GREAT suggestions. I would love to roam the dungeons with a permanent GRRE spell, which would also always reveal magic doors. Maybe also lose the spinners. It would be great if one way doors were visibly distinguishable from ordinary doors. Maybe make sure that that Mangar killed is n...

if we are talking about the C64 versions, just forget that checksum. Although it is created by a routine in the guild event, it is never used for anything later (afaik). I can send anyone the disassembled guild event of the disk version, just pm me an email addy. I was hoping that this was going to...

* The definition of the characters are identical to the first $65 bytes of the characters in the disk-version. There are no checksum on the characters, as there are in the disk-version. This is the most fascinating snippet of information yet. It sounds likely that the $65 bytes of the 7 party membe...

This is so awesome that people are appreciating and celebrating the achievement of the tape version. Another speed improvement unique to the tape version is the bumping into the walls in darkness. In the disk version there is an obtrusive Ouch! animation that takes ages to complete. With the tape ve...

You could ofcourse edit your characters - byte by byte or in a level-editor - from tape to disk, but that'd be a nuisance. I'll look in to this. I'm hoping that there may be an easier way. Plus, I don't have a character editor for the tape version so I can't be sure that I would enter all the value...

The quick walking around, and the general speed-up is actually one of the reasons why i'm looking into this. If this works out well, you guys might have a diskbased version with all the cons in a little while - provided that I can find enough space to cram in a loader. :-) Wow, that would be the be...

Just for your interest. I've started to look into the tape version of Bard's Tale (both the german and the english version), and so far i'm quite impressed - loads of things are recoded, loads of stuff have been compressed and loads of stuff have been altered. After some research, I got the release...

I'm with ZeroZero (Hi! Long time no see!) on this one. I'd say that this might be a miss in the code; somebody overlooked the option that the value for this variable may get more than 1 at some occation - my guess is the combination of Spellpoint-areas in the Castle in combination with the Mage Sta...

I had been saving game as a CCS64 snapshot, which saves the entire emulated machine state. It occurred to me, that I could save the party to tape, reload the game afresh, load the party in from the tape, and see whether the weird dungeon spellpoint increasing persists, i.e. this will tell me whether...

Fantastic to see original material from the conception of the game. It's how amazing how accurate the design is in comparison to the final product. The abandoned dialogue feature sounds fascinating. I guess it required too much memory and had to be abandoned. It would have been totally impossible on...
