I used to think that Spellbind was useless on Mangar as he would attack the party. However, my level 169 wizard successfully cast SPBD on him and it worked, making Manger officially owned. This was on the c64 tape version with a genuine, legit party. So SPBD is not hard coded to fail with Mangar, an...

In the castle only a bard can sit on the throne to permit access to an area. Hiwever, this is not a necessity as my bardless party simply cast Phase Door to get into the area. I would say that you certainly need at least one magic user who can cast beyond death otherwise the party might have to abor...

Thanks for your offers of help. Unfortunately I've had to uninstall the Bards Tale from my Android phone as I completed the remake, and while I want to retain the original 1980s Bards Tale version on my smartphone, I don't want the cost of the 1.8Gb of space required for the game! I emailed the dev...

BT1 released for Android

I'm very impressed with the BT1 that comes with the Android App for The Bards Tale. They have enhanced the sound and music, and have provided a splendid interface to utilise the touchscreen and the virtual keyboard of smartphones. I completed the BT1 on the C64 and created extremely high level chara...

Major Levitation (MALE) is the most powerful levitation spell, and I believe it is more effective than the other levitation spells.

What level are your magic users?
If you can cast SOSI, or a lesser spell, you will be told if there is a trap ahead of you within 30'.

I wonder if they retained any of the text for the abandoned dialogue feature. It would be really cool if someone made an enhanced version of BT with the dialogue feature implemented as it might have been originally if memory has not been a restriction. I invite anyone to take up this idea! :)

$0413 = PHDO $040A - $0411 = APAR; FF = APAR disabled; 00 = APAR enabled This would not be the case for the tape-version - i'll have to try to find it manually. Are there any easily reachable PHDO or APAR-disabled areas in some easily accessible dungeon such as the Catacombs or Harkyn's Castle? If ...
