Re: Forgotten Forces - a new grid-based dungeoncrawler
Seems you have been "inspired" alot by M&M 3, loads of the gfx look like direct rips... ;) Action timer battles? After all in M&M6 u had the choice for "real-time" or "round-based" battles. Personally I prefer the latter. Besides this critics it looks very nice....

Re: BT1, MS Dos function offsets/
@ RevenantBob Hey, please observe, when you make a remake, that there is no the remake, because most versions were significantly different in game values and each version had their own bugs... In paticular for BT1 this were: 8 Bit 65xx version (Apple & C64, maybe Atari 800 etc) 8 Bit Z80 version...

Actually from the Bard's Tale I manual for C64 and Apple it is "E" to go up and "D" to go down a portal.

Re: BT3- ToF C64 Hex Editing
Dear Lory, please look for a tool called 64copy at the developers page . It's the tool I used for my investigations with all kind of editors and search routines, incl. ASS/DASS. It has a Norton Commander like surface. With the disk editor search for your party name (may find several places, so try a...

Re: CBM64 Bard's Tale 1 Disassembly
Flaminal is right: BAD means an illegal opcode or an opcode that really has no (known) function. But BT is completely coded with legal codes, so likely you disassembled beyond the boundaries of regular code into a data section.

Re: Attributes caps?
Hi!
The cap of attributes is, like D & D, 18. You only get bonusses above 18, if the excceeding of 18 is caused by race or class bonusses, not by manipulation.
So the "natural" maximum is 18 PLUS race/class bonusses.

Anyone but Darendor. Having had my experiences with him I was anyway puzzled when he became Mod before. No offense intended.

I suggest: 1. use a character editor for the Apple to re-create the party. I think in some Apple magazine, that you can find in the web, they published such an editor. 2. use the C64 disks of Arnold for a reference of the original ATEAM. The apple and the C64 versions were the first 2 and were ident...

Try this here...
Also some guys are developing a BT style game for the C64, but that won't be C/C++/C#.
The most critical task in such a game would be the balance of char values and battles, i. e. battle mechanics, race and class modifiers on char values and exp rates given out.
