What On Earth?

Post by Darendor »

Alright, Mangar's Tower, Level 5, at 8N, 10E.

There's a square that seems to teleport...to 8N, 10E...the funny thing is, is that if I approach it from the north, the disk drive runs as though scanning my party for an item (a la Master Key, for instance), but then stops. If I approach it from the south (as when you dive into the boiling liquid to teleport), the drive doesn't spin, it just acts like a malfunctioning teleport.

This is on the C64 version. Anyone have any idea as to what this is?

I wonder if it's supposed to have a random effect.

You can sometimes face a Lich or two there (on the Apple ][, I think), which to me was always a much harder battle than facing Mangar.

As I wrote elsewhere recently, on the Amiga game crashes if you step there.

The best policy is to go around it through one of the side passages to the south.

Is this true? I tried walking over that square hundreds of times on the Apple version and never encountered anything. I heard that once before about the Liches, but was never able to reproduce this.

Marco.

I'll be darned if I can remember if this is true or not, now. I'm filled with doubt.

I certainly can't check on the Apple any more, but I should be able to check for liches on the C64.
