On the Commodore 64 versions at least, I noticed that Bard's Tale III runs...well, slower than the other 2 games.
Anyone else notice this too?

Yes. I usually set the speed to 200%

Moving around is a little slower than the others--moving around feels a little sluggish. But the fast-loading disk access is amazingly speedy. Wouldn't setting the speed to 200% increase the number of random combats unacceptably?
Death and drek? WTF?

Probably.
I imagine the slowed down movement is because there are a few more "specials" to look out for on top of the ones from the other 2 games:
- "stuck"
- "explosion"
- invisible walls

I haven't really noticed. Nothing out of the ordinary. Currently in only in the Unterbrae levels so maybe there's a lesser encounter rate.
