Meaning of street names

Post by Desmet Irkm »

I just got interested in what some of the street names in Skara Brae mean. That's what I came up with (only for those streets where the background is not obvious):

Corbomite: comes from Star Trek "The Corbomite Maneuver", its some kind of imaginary susbstance Kirk uses to bluff an enemy with into not attacking the Enterprise (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Corbomite_Maneuver)

Rakhir: "Rakhir the Red Archer" is a comic figure (http://www.comicvine.com/rakhir-the-red ... /29-23968/)

Dilvish: "Dilvish, the Damned" is a collection of fantasy stories by Roger Zelazny (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dilvish,_the_Damned)

Hey, that's interesting indeed. There's quite the history behind the name Skara Brae itself, too:

Fargoer Street is named after Brian Fargo, who had a hand in development of BT.
