Can't Leave game and save characters

Post by Ben »

Happy New year folks!

I'm in trouble, again...

game - Arnolds version
emulator - Winvice

My character disk image (or in arnolds version named 'City' disk image) won't read in the adventurers guild when I leave and save, or check roster.

This began when I added monsters wanting to join my party in the catacombs, (maybe nothing, but in case you needed to know) then random visual bugs began -
- a characters name looked like it was mashed up with a mincer (now returned to normal)
- two lines sometimes get put together at a battle -
'Before you, you see The sudden scream of battle brings your party to a halt'
- The surrounding border has turned white (from black)

Please please tell me I don't have to start over, I almost have 2 wizards..
I don't care about the visuals, but saving characters properly is my concern..

Is there a way I can do this?
I'm not a hard wired data reading genius like you all, but I wish I was :-)

I have a screen shot, how can I show it to you on here?

Also, I'm an artist and graphic designer. I'm putting together dungeon maps in the style of the Scara Brae map that came with the original game. Will let you know when a couple are ready to share with you all
Vyv... have we got a video?

Are you saying every time you restart, you get these same glitches?

If so, probably the emulator or disk is sad. You're running the current version of vice?

Does Bard's tale support importing from bard's tale? (BT3 does this), if so you can try importing your characters to a working save disk.

Last resort would be editing your characters onto a new save disk, if that's within your reach.

In my experience CCS64 is the emulator which has the best C64 disk emulation.

Have you tried "true emulation ON/OFF"?

Oh yeah, of course, "True drive emulation" is pretty much required for almost all c64 games on VICE. I don't know why this doesn't default on.
