"We have 675 registered users"

Too bad many of them exist only to promote a web site. Everytime I look at the "newest" registered user I find it obviously fake. May be they should be cleared out.

At the time of this post it was:
"The newest registered user is Pamela m79K4l"

You are completely right. These fake users are a big nuisance. I will try to clear them out shortly.

nice job cutting back all the spammy posting bots from 675 to 54! 8) awesome! I know at the Devil Whiskey forums they have the same phpbb forum style setup and they have recently set the preferences so that any new user that wants to become a forum member has to get authorization from the webmaster before he/she/it can post anything to the forums. This has worked well for them since we no longer get spam postings like the ones currently listed in the Adventure's Guild's off-topic thread. I don't have my own phpbb community so I don't know for sure how to set the preferences but there should be something there to set it right so there are no spam postings from spammy members that sign up and post garbage at will.

Sounds like a very good idea. I will have a look on the board preferences.

I just made the respective changes to the board config. :D

All new users now have to get authorized by the board admin. Thank you again for your help!

Thanks for waving me through.

Hi, everybody.

Just joined as I see a ban coming up for me on the Yahoo! Bard's Tale group. I commited the crime of pointing out an obvious spammer to Yahoo! which seems to be a death sin over there to contact the admins. :-/

If someone here recognize me AND has a problem with me, feel free to contact me in the open before running to the admins denouncing me, ok?

I don't fancy party attacks or dissension in the ranks.

EDIT: concerning the spammer, it were the Yahoo! admins to threaten me with some "Yahoo! believes that you have violated or acted inconsistently with the letter or spirit of the TOS."

I am the admin of the board and I have no problems with your presence here - why should I?

Hmm... I was in the ooold forum before the site folded and posted a lot of stuff concerning the BTCS. I think I bored a lot of people to death. ;-)
