Well, it seems I went a bit overboard with trying to edit my BTI party to ridiculous power levels. I was doing this to get them to convert over to II but it seems a lot of the changes don't make it through (annoyingly enough, resetting hitpoints and spellpoints to 1). The worst part is that it makes the character names not load, meaning I have characters that I cannot use (or delete).

For those in the peanut gallery, let this be a parable that reminds you to make backups of your character disk regularly. I lost my first Bard's Tale party in a similar way, and I still miss 'em.
On the bright side, starting off with a fresh, new party in BT2 is quite rewarding. Where-as, the first several dungeons are a slog with a party from BT1 that can defeat every monster without breaking a sweat, and that never finds any new equipment.
