Segment 2 Not Working

I got the Segment 2 of the wand, but it does not lower the AC of the character that enables it. Anyone else ever had this problem?

Do you already have a MYSH spell running? The segment casts that spell, so if the spell's already in effect, it'll look like the segment didn't do anything.

Quite right. I thought it might work like a piece of armor, but it simply can be USED to cast MYSH. Thanks...

On the 8 bit systems, equipping the segment lowers AC.
