I registered a long time ago here under the name of sombunall. I then tried to change my email but for some reason the system locked me out. I want to use the email of this account with this new name. Can this be done?

Theoretically it should not be a problem. I am unable to see your former user within the system so the E-mail address used for it should be unused anyway.
If you can send me the E-mail address you intend to use in a private message I will investigate a little bit more...
